Checking your bandwidth and disk usage
Last updated 8/1/2026 by Alfie Web Solutions
Every hosting plan comes with a certain amount of disk space (storage) and bandwidth (data transfer). Here's how to keep an eye on both.
Quick view
Your account's current usage is shown right on the DirectAdmin dashboard when you log in - look for usage bars or numbers near the top of the page showing disk space and bandwidth used versus your plan's limit.
Detailed statistics
- Log in to DirectAdmin.
- Click Statistics (sometimes labelled Site Summary / Statistics / Logs).
- Here you can see a breakdown of disk usage by folder/domain, and bandwidth usage by month.
Website traffic stats
The same Statistics area usually includes a link to Awstats (or a similar tool), which shows visitor numbers, popular pages, and where your traffic is coming from - useful beyond just checking limits.
What happens if you go over your limit
- Disk space: uploads and new emails may be blocked until space is freed up (deleting old files, emails, or backups) or your plan is upgraded.
- Bandwidth: depending on your plan, your site may be temporarily suspended until the next billing cycle, or we may reach out about upgrading - we'll always try to contact you before anything is suspended.
If your usage is climbing and you're not sure why, submit a ticket under Web Hosting - we can help identify what's using the space (large backups and media libraries are common culprits) or talk through upgrade options.
