Changing your DirectAdmin password
Last updated 8/1/2026 by Alfie Web Solutions
It's good practice to change your DirectAdmin password periodically, and essential to do immediately if you ever suspect it's been compromised.
Changing it
- Log in to DirectAdmin.
- Click Account Manager.
- Click Password / Language.
- Enter your current password, then your new password (twice, to confirm).
- Click Save.
You'll need to log in again afterwards using the new password.
Choosing a strong password
- Use at least 12 characters.
- Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.
- Don't reuse a password from another account/site.
- A password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password, etc.) can generate and remember a strong one for you.
Forgotten password
If you're locked out and can't log in to reset it yourself, submit a ticket under Web Hosting from the email address on your account and we'll verify your identity before resetting it.
Note on FTP and email passwords
Changing your main DirectAdmin password does not change any FTP account or email account passwords you've created - those are separate and are managed from FTP Management and E-mail Accounts respectively.
